Dr. Ramprasad is the Matmerize CEO and co-founder. He has been a professor of materials science and engineering at Georgia Tech since 2018. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, he was the Centennial Term Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He joined the University of Connecticut in Fall 2004 after a 6-year stint with Motorola’s R&D laboratories at Tempe, AZ. Dr. Ramprasad received his B. Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India, an M.S. degree in Materials Science & Engineering at the Washington State University, and a Ph.D. degree also in Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Prof. Ramprasad’s area of expertise is in the development and application of computational and machine learning tools to accelerate materials discovery, as applicable to energy production, storage and utilization. 

Dr. Ramprasad founded Matmerize along with Dr. Chiho Kim in 2019. Backed by years of academic computational materials engineering knowledge, Matmerize is the new standard for accelerating materials formulation development, powered by machine learning.

Dr. Chiho Kim is the Matmerize CTO and co-founder. Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering at Hanyang University, in Seoul, South Korea. He then worked with Samsung Electronics for four years in Korea, before joining the University of Connecticut as a postdoctoral fellow and research associate for four years. He then joined Georgia Institute of Technology as a research engineer and during this, co-founded Matmerize.  

Rishi Gurnani

Rishi Gurnani is a technology development lead at Matmerize. Rishi received his BS in Materials Science & Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. During this time, he gained experience in the automotive coatings industry, interning at both General Motors and Tesla Motors. After graduating from Berkeley, Rishi started his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in the Ramprasad Group in 2019 and his MS in Computer Science at Georgia Tech in 2020. Rishi has authored a handful of peer-reviewed publications in the field of computational polymer science and has presented invited talks at conferences, including at the 76th Annual Meeting of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers in May 2022.

William Schertzer

William Schertzer is a business development lead at Matmerize. In December 2021, William graduated from Georgia Tech with a BS in Materials Science & Engineering. As an undergraduate student he gained experience in manufacturing, new product integration, R&D, Business development and computational materials science research. He is an author of a peer-reviewed research paper on copolymer informatics. In Fall of 2022, William will start his PhD in Materials Science & Engineering in the Ramprasad group at Georgia Tech.
